PT973 is a bispecific antibody (bsAb) currently in IND-enabling development by Phanes Therapeutics for the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The molecule is engineered to simultaneously target a tumor-associated antigen (TAA) and CD47. CD47 is a cell surface protein that functions as a "don't eat me" signal, allowing cancer cells to evade the immune system by inhibiting phagocytosis by macrophages. By utilizing a bispecific format, PT973 is intended to enhance tumor selectivity and reduce the hematological toxicities, such as anemia, often associated with systemic CD47 blockade by preferentially binding to cells expressing both the TAA and CD47.
