Pterocarpus erinaceus extract

Pterocarpus erinaceus extract is a plant-derived preparation obtained from various parts (primarily bark, root, leaf, and heartwood) of Pterocarpus erinaceus, a medicinal tree widely used in West African traditional medicine. Extracts contain multiple biologically active compounds, including flavonoids, terpenoids, phenols, alkaloids, tannins, phytate, triterpenes (e.g. friedelin, lupeol), and epicatechin. Pharmacological studies have demonstrated antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antibacterial, antifungal, and potentially neuroprotective activities. In vitro and in vivo models suggest inhibition of lipoxygenase, suppression of lipid peroxidation, and scavenging of free radicals[1][2][5][6][8]. There is also preliminary evidence the "kino" extract may act as a selective γ-secretase inhibitor, potentially relevant to Alzheimer's disease therapy[5]. These findings support its traditional use for conditions such as inflammation, pain, gastrointestinal disorders, infections, and possibly cognitive disorders.
