Overview

PTH recombinant mesenchymal stem cells (PTH-rhMSC) is an investigational cell-based gene therapy consisting of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) that have been genetically engineered to express and secrete recombinant parathyroid hormone (PTH). Developed by the Shenzhen Ruipuxun Academy for Stem Cell & Regenerative Medicine, this therapy is designed to treat hypoparathyroidism, including idiopathic and postsurgical forms. By providing a continuous, endogenous-like source of PTH, the therapy aims to restore physiological calcium and phosphate homeostasis, potentially reducing or eliminating the need for chronic oral calcium and calcitriol supplementation. The product is currently being evaluated in Phase 1/2 clinical trials to assess its safety, tolerability, and preliminary efficacy in adult patients.
