Drug intelligence / Profile preview
PTI-DA4 is a small molecule therapeutic developed by ProteoTech designed to target the tau protein for the treatment of neurodegenerative tauopathies, including Alzheimer's Disease and Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). The compound is intended to modulate or inhibit the pathological aggregation and toxicity of tau proteins, which are key drivers of neuronal dysfunction in these conditions. As of 2014, the program was in the preclinical stage of development and had received Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) funding. The mechanism of action involves direct interaction with tau to prevent the formation of toxic aggregates.
