Overview

PTM202 is a **novel nutrition-based intervention** for pediatric infectious diarrhea, comprised of bovine colostrum and **immune-enhanced hen’s egg** containing pathogen-specific immunoglobulins[1][2][3]. Its mechanism of action involves direct neutralization of multiple key enteric pathogens, including rotavirus, enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli, Shiga toxin-producing E. coli, and Salmonella, with demonstrated in vitro cross-reactivity against Shigella and norovirus[1]. PTM202 was shown in randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trials to significantly shorten the duration of acute non-bloody diarrhea in children carrying these pathogens, with the greatest effect observed in urban populations[1][3]. No adverse events attributable to PTM202 were reported. The product aims to address diarrheal disease, particularly in children in low- and middle-income countries, and may complement or potentially reduce reliance on antibiotics[1]. Developed and studied in collaboration with academic institutions and PanTheryx, a medical nutrition company, PTM202 is considered a therapeutic nutrition product[3][5].
