Overview

The PTPRZ1 vaccine is an experimental cancer immunotherapy designed to target the protein tyrosine phosphatase receptor type Z1 (PTPRZ1), a tumor-associated antigen highly expressed in glioblastoma and other central nervous system tumors. The vaccine typically consists of peptides derived from the PTPRZ1 protein, formulated to elicit a cytotoxic T-cell response against tumor cells expressing this antigen. It is being developed as part of multi-peptide vaccines (such as IMA950 and A49-Mel) or as a component in novel adjuvant formulations for glioblastoma treatment. The mechanism involves stimulating the immune system—particularly CD8+ T cells—to recognize and attack cancer cells presenting PTPRZ1-derived epitopes on their surface via HLA-A2 molecules. Early clinical studies have shown that vaccination can induce specific immune responses, though robust clinical efficacy remains under investigation[2][3][6].
