Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Pubex is a line of veterinary antiparasitic products developed and marketed by TAFARM, a Greek animal health company. The product line, which includes shampoos and sprays, is primarily indicated for the treatment and prevention of ectoparasite infestations, such as fleas, ticks, and lice, in dogs and cats. The formulations typically utilize pyrethroid insecticides, including permethrin and tetramethrin, which act as neurotoxins by disrupting voltage-gated sodium channels in parasites. Many Pubex products also incorporate piperonyl butoxide, a synergist that enhances the efficacy of the active insecticides by inhibiting the cytochrome P450 enzymes responsible for their metabolic detoxification within the parasite.
