Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Pudilan Xiaoyan is a proprietary traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formulation widely used in China for its anti-inflammatory and detoxifying properties. It is most commonly available as an oral liquid (Pudilan Xiaoyan Oral Liquid) or as tablets. The formula contains multiple herbal ingredients including Scutellaria baicalensis (Huang Qin), Taraxacum mongolicum (Dandelion), Isatis indigotica root (Radix Isatidis), and Corydalis bungeana. Its primary indications are the treatment of inflammatory conditions such as upper respiratory tract infections, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, mumps in children, and viral pneumonia. Mechanistically, it acts by reducing nitroxidative stress and blocking TLR4 activation along with NF-κB phosphorylation—key pathways involved in inflammation. Network pharmacology studies suggest that its active components target multiple inflammatory mediators and immune pathways[1][2][5][10]. It is included in the Chinese Pharmacopoeia and recommended by various health authorities for use against certain viral infections such as H1N1 influenza and hand-foot-and-mouth disease[2].
