Overview

Pueraria lobata polysaccharides are bioactive carbohydrate polymers extracted from the root of *Pueraria lobata* (Kudzu). These polysaccharides are being investigated for their potential therapeutic effects in metabolic disorders, particularly polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and insulin resistance. The mechanism of action is believed to involve the modulation of gut microbiota composition, reduction of systemic inflammation, and improvement of insulin signaling pathways. In clinical research led by Guangzhou Medical University and Guangzhou Women and Children's Medical Center, these polysaccharides are being evaluated as a dietary intervention in overweight and obese women to improve insulin sensitivity, menstrual regularity, and body composition, often studied alongside background metformin therapy.
