Overview
Pueraria tuberosa extract is a botanical extract derived from the tubers of *Pueraria tuberosa* (commonly known as Indian Kudzu or Vidarikanda), a perennial herb used in traditional Ayurvedic medicine. The extract contains several bioactive isoflavonoids, including puerarin, daidzein, genistein, and biochanin-A. It is being researched for various therapeutic applications, including Friedreich's ataxia (FRDA), type 2 diabetes, menopausal osteoporosis, and inflammatory conditions. In preclinical models of FRDA, the extract has been shown to improve locomotion defects and increase aconitase activity. It also exhibits antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and estrogenic properties, acting as a modulator of estrogen receptors and other metabolic pathways.
