Pulian ointment is a topical Chinese herbal medicine formulated for the treatment of psoriasis vulgaris, particularly for cases associated with the blood-heat syndrome in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Its active ingredients include Phellodendron amurense (Huang Bai) and Scutellaria baicalensis (Huang Qin), combined with white petroleum jelly. Clinical trials have demonstrated its efficacy in improving Psoriasis Area Severity Index (PASI) scores and reducing the area of skin lesions, with a good safety profile and no reported adverse events. The ointment is applied externally, typically twice daily. It has been approved by the Beijing Food and Drug Administration for hospital prescription use in China for psoriasis treatment.
