Drug intelligence / Profile preview
PulmALLO (BCDA-04) is an allogeneic mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) therapy developed by BioCardia Lifesciences for the treatment of Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS). The therapy utilizes MSCs that are selected for the expression of the Neurokinin-1 receptor (NK-1R), the primary receptor for the neuropeptide Substance P, which plays a significant role in inflammatory signaling and tissue repair. By delivering these NK-1R-positive cells, the therapy aims to modulate the hyper-inflammatory environment characteristic of ARDS and promote lung tissue regeneration. PulmALLO is currently being evaluated in a Phase 1 clinical trial (NCT05491681) to assess safety and preliminary efficacy in patients with ARDS.
