Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Pulmex is a topical ointment developed and marketed by Spirig HealthCare for the symptomatic treatment of upper respiratory tract diseases, such as the common cold, cough, and catarrh. It is a combination product containing four active ingredients: artificial balsam of Peru, racemic camphor, eucalyptus oil, and rosemary oil. These components work synergistically to facilitate breathing, provide mild antiseptic properties, and act as an expectorant to help clear mucus from the respiratory tract. The ointment is applied topically to the chest and back, where its volatile components are inhaled and its active substances are absorbed through the skin to provide relief from congestion. It is an over-the-counter (OTC) medication approved by Swissmedic in Switzerland.
