AmnioPul-02 (PulmoStem) is an allogeneic, lung-specific mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) therapy derived from human amniotic fluid. Developed by the Swedish biopharmaceutical company Amniotics AB, the therapy consists of neonatal-quality MSCs selected for their high proliferative capacity and specific lung-homing properties. It is primarily being developed to treat inflammatory and fibrotic lung conditions, including COVID-19-related Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) and other viral lower respiratory tract infections. The cells function by secreting immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory factors that reduce pulmonary inflammation and promote tissue regeneration, potentially preventing the progression to chronic lung fibrosis. The therapy is administered via intravenous infusion.
