Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Pulsatilla saponin D (SB365)** is a purified saponin compound isolated from the root of *Pulsatilla koreana* (or *Pulsatilla chinensis*), investigated primarily for its anti-cancer activity. Mechanistically, SB365 induces apoptosis, inhibits cell proliferation, and exhibits pronounced anti-angiogenic effects in multiple cancer types, including hepatocellular carcinoma, colorectal cancer, pancreatic cancer, gastric cancer, and gefitinib-resistant non-small cell lung cancer. Its mechanism of action involves inhibition of the PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathway, suppression of c-Met receptor phosphorylation and signaling, and downregulation of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and hypoxia-inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α). Preclinical studies demonstrate reduced tumor growth and angiogenesis with minimal toxicity. It is being investigated as a novel chemotherapeutic agent and as a potential therapeutic option for treatment-resistant or advanced cancers[1][2][3][5][7][9][10].
