Drug intelligence / Profile preview
PumpaGon is a stable, liquid formulation of a glucagon receptor agonist developed by Latitude Pharmaceuticals, specifically designed for use in bihormonal insulin pumps and artificial pancreas systems. Unlike conventional glucagon, which is unstable in solution and requires reconstitution, PumpaGon is formulated to remain stable at physiological temperatures for extended periods, making it suitable for continuous infusion. It acts as an agonist at the glucagon receptor to stimulate glucose release, working in tandem with insulin to prevent hypoglycemia and maintain tight glycemic control in patients with diabetes. The product is being developed as a 505(b)(2) candidate, intended for out-licensing to partners for further development and commercialization.
