Drug intelligence / Profile preview
PuraPly SX is an antimicrobial extracellular matrix (ECM) biologic developed by Organogenesis for use in surgical and sports medicine. It consists of a purified native porcine-derived Type I collagen matrix embedded with polyhexamethylene biguanide (PHMB), a broad-spectrum antimicrobial agent. The collagen matrix provides a biocompatible scaffold that supports cellular infiltration, attachment, and proliferation, facilitating the body's natural regenerative healing process. The addition of PHMB helps to manage the wound bioburden by resisting microbial colonization and biofilm formation on the device. PuraPly SX is specifically designed with increased thickness and mechanical strength to suit surgical applications, such as the management of surgical, traumatic, and chronic wounds, including those with exposed vital structures.
