Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Purethal is a brand of allergen immunotherapy products developed for the treatment and prevention of allergic diseases such as allergic rhinitis (hay fever), allergic conjunctivitis, and hypersensitivity reactions. The product line includes formulations targeting specific allergens like grass pollen (Purethal Grasses) and house dust mites (PURETHAL Mites). These are therapeutic vaccines that work by gradually exposing patients to increasing doses of allergen extracts via subcutaneous injection, thereby stimulating the immune system to develop tolerance to these allergens. This process reduces symptoms upon natural exposure. The mechanism of action is immunostimulation through controlled allergen exposure. Purethal is primarily indicated for IgE-mediated allergies confirmed by diagnostic testing[7][9].
