Overview
Purevax is a line of adjuvant-free veterinary vaccines for cats, originally developed by Merial and now owned by Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health. The product line includes multiple formulations designed to prevent various feline infectious diseases using either modified live virus (MLV) technology or recombinant canarypox-vectored technology. Purevax vaccines target several feline pathogens, including feline rhinotracheitis virus (herpesvirus-1), calicivirus, panleukopenia virus, rabies virus, Chlamydia psittaci, and feline leukemia virus (FeLV). A key feature of the Purevax line is the absence of adjuvants, which is intended to minimize the risk of local injection-site reactions and feline injection-site sarcomas. These biologics are administered via subcutaneous or intramuscular injection to healthy cats for disease prevention.
