Drug intelligence / Profile preview
P.O.L. Calm is a topical dermatological cream developed by Cantabria Labs Difa Cooper. It is a multi-component formulation containing 10% purified omental lipids, polidocanol, and palmitoylethanolamide (PEA). The purified omental lipids serve as emollients to restore the skin barrier and improve skin structure. Polidocanol acts as a local anesthetic and moisturizing agent to alleviate itching. Palmitoylethanolamide is an endogenous fatty acid amide that provides anti-inflammatory and anti-pruritic effects, primarily by acting as an agonist at the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPAR-alpha). The product is indicated for chronic pruritus and prurigo nodularis, particularly in elderly patients, and has been shown in clinical trials to significantly reduce itch intensity and improve skin barrier function. It is commercially available as a cosmeceutical or dermatological product.
