Purified protein derivative of BCG (BCG-PPD) is a diagnostic biologic agent used for the detection of tuberculosis infection. It is composed of soluble protein fractions derived from the *Mycobacterium bovis* Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) strain. When administered via intradermal injection, the agent triggers a delayed-type hypersensitivity (DTH) reaction in individuals who have been previously sensitized to mycobacterial antigens, typically through infection with *Mycobacterium tuberculosis* or vaccination with BCG. This reaction, characterized by induration at the injection site after 48 to 72 hours, serves as an indicator of the individual's cellular immune response. Chengdu Kern Biologics Technology is developing this specific BCG-PPD formulation, which is currently being evaluated in clinical trials for its safety and diagnostic performance in patients with pulmonary and extrapulmonary tuberculosis.
