Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Purified Vero Rabies Vaccine Serum Free (VRVg) is a second-generation, inactivated rabies vaccine developed by Sanofi Pasteur. Produced using a Vero cell line in a serum-free culture medium, it is designed to eliminate the risks associated with bovine-derived reagents and improve the standardization of the manufacturing process. The vaccine contains the inactivated Rabies virus (PM/WI38 1503-3M strain) and is used for both pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP). It has demonstrated non-inferiority in terms of immunogenicity and safety compared to human diploid cell vaccines (HDCV), stimulating the production of rabies virus neutralizing antibodies (RVNA) to provide active immunity against the rabies virus.
