Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Meloxicam (Putanning; QP001) is a long-acting, injectable formulation of the selective cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitor meloxicam, developed by Nanjing Delova. Unlike traditional oral or short-acting injectable NSAIDs, this formulation is designed to provide sustained analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects for 24 hours following a single administration. It is primarily indicated for the management of post-operative and perioperative pain. By selectively inhibiting the COX-2 enzyme, it reduces the synthesis of prostaglandins involved in pain and inflammation while minimizing the gastrointestinal and platelet-related side effects typically associated with non-selective COX inhibitors. The drug received approval in both China and the United States in April 2025.
