Overview

PvDBPII + Matrix-M1 is a combination malaria vaccine candidate composed of recombinant Plasmodium vivax Duffy-binding protein region II (PvDBPII) formulated with the saponin-based adjuvant Matrix-M1. The vaccine targets blood-stage P. vivax malaria by inducing antibodies against the Duffy-binding protein, which is essential for parasite invasion of red blood cells. Matrix-M1 enhances immunogenicity by promoting both humoral and cellular immune responses through activation and recruitment of various immune cells. Clinical trials have shown that delayed booster regimens elicit strong antibody responses and significantly reduce parasite multiplication rates following controlled human malaria infection in healthy adults[9][2][3]. The primary indication is prevention of P. vivax malaria.
