Overview

PvHMB-CCE001 is a biological challenge agent used in controlled human malaria infection (CHMI) studies. It consists of erythrocytes (red blood cells), both infected and uninfected, stabilized in glycerolyte, and is derived from Plasmodium vivax. The primary use of PvHMB-CCE001 is to induce blood-stage P. vivax malaria in healthy volunteers for the purpose of evaluating vaccines or antimalarial drugs under controlled conditions[1][2]. This agent does not function as a therapeutic drug but rather as a research tool to facilitate the study of malaria pathogenesis and intervention efficacy.
