Overview

PVP-2a is an experimental polyvinylpyrrolidone micellar formulation containing the neutral benzoporphyrin photosensitizer designated 2a. Upon light activation, the benzoporphyrin component produces reactive oxygen species, including singlet oxygen, to induce photodynamic cytotoxicity. It was evaluated in vitro against HT-1376 human bladder cancer cells as a potential photodynamic-therapy agent; it is not a marketed medicine and has no assigned INN.
