PVP-TZ-POR 7a is an experimental nanoparticle-based photosensitizer formulation developed for photodynamic therapy (PDT), particularly for the treatment of bladder cancer. It consists of a novel $\beta$-substituted triazole-porphyrin derivative (TZ-POR 7a) encapsulated within polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) micelles. The triazole moiety is attached to the porphyrin macrocycle via a vinyl linker, synthesized through a Mizoroki-Heck coupling reaction. The PVP micelle carrier enhances the water solubility and photostability of the hydrophobic porphyrin while preventing inactive aggregation in aqueous environments. Upon irradiation with specific wavelengths of light, the compound acts as a photosensitizer, transferring energy to molecular oxygen to generate cytotoxic singlet oxygen ($^1O_2$). This localized production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) induces oxidative stress and subsequent cell death in malignant tissues. In preclinical studies, PVP-TZ-POR 7a demonstrated high singlet oxygen generation efficiency and significant phototoxicity against the HT-1376 human bladder cancer cell line.
