Pvs25-IMX313 is a transmission-blocking vaccine (TBV) candidate specifically designed to target *Plasmodium vivax*. It is a recombinant fusion protein comprising the Pvs25 ookinete surface antigen fused to the IMX313 oligomerization domain. IMX313 is a pro-immunogenic, heptameric scaffold derived from the chicken C4-binding protein (C4bp) that facilitates the multivalent display of the antigen, which is intended to improve the induction of high-titer, long-lasting antibody responses compared to monomeric antigens. The vaccine's mechanism involves eliciting antibodies in the human host that, when ingested by an *Anopheles* mosquito during a blood meal, bind to the parasite within the mosquito midgut and inhibit its development from zygote to oocyst. This process effectively halts the transmission of malaria from humans back to mosquitoes. The vaccine is formulated with the Matrix-M1 adjuvant (a saponin-based adjuvant) to further enhance its immunogenicity.
