Drug intelligence / Profile preview
PVX is an investigational antiviral peptide being developed by CYGNOS BioTech (the successor to Nuovo Biologics) for the treatment of broad-spectrum viral infections in companion animals, including dogs, cats, horses, and birds. The active pharmaceutical ingredient is a novel peptide derived from natural sources that demonstrates antiviral activity against multiple virus families, including herpesviruses, influenza viruses, and certain retroviruses. PVX has been assigned an Investigational New Animal Drug (INAD) number (#011-949) by the FDA Center for Veterinary Medicine. The company is currently conducting clinical studies to establish safety and bio-efficacy for various viral indications, with the long-term goal of translating the technology for human therapeutic use under a 'One Health' framework.
