PVX108 is a novel, precision immunotherapy for the treatment of peanut allergy. It consists of a mixture of synthetic peptides that represent dominant T cell epitopes from major peanut allergens. These peptides are engineered to precisely target and modulate the T cells responsible for driving peanut allergy, aiming to 're-train' the immune system and induce tolerance to peanuts without exposing patients to whole peanut proteins or allergens. This approach minimizes the risk of severe allergic reactions such as anaphylaxis during therapy, which is a significant limitation with current therapies using natural extracts. The mechanism involves immunomodulation by increasing regulatory T cells and altering effector T helper cell responses specific to peanuts. PVX108 is administered intradermally in monthly doses and has shown favorable safety and immune-modulating effects in Phase 1 trials; it is currently in Phase 2 clinical development with plans for Phase 3 trials[1][2][3][5][6][7][8].
