Drug intelligence / Profile preview
PWT33597 mesylate is an orally administered, potent small molecule that acts as a dual inhibitor of phosphatidylinositol 3 kinase (PI3K) alpha and mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR). By selectively inhibiting both PI3K alpha kinase and mTOR kinase, it may induce tumor cell apoptosis and inhibit the growth of tumor cells that overexpress these targets. The drug was developed by Pathway Therapeutics for the treatment of solid tumors and advanced malignancies. Clinical development reached phase 1 trials in patients with advanced cancers, but there have been no recent reports of further development[1][2][4].
