PXS1100 is an investigational small molecule drug developed by Pharmaxis. It is a selective inhibitor of the chemokine receptor CXCR4. The primary mechanism of action involves antagonism of CXCR4, which plays a key role in the migration and retention of hematopoietic stem cells and leukocytes in bone marrow and tissues. By inhibiting CXCR4, PXS1100 mobilizes stem cells into peripheral blood, making it potentially useful for stem cell transplantation procedures as well as for diseases where abnormal cell trafficking contributes to pathology, such as certain cancers and fibrotic disorders. Pharmaxis has reported preclinical data supporting its use in these indications.
