Overview

PXT-012253 is a positron emission tomography (PET) radioligand developed for imaging the metabotropic glutamate receptor 4 (mGluR4) in the brain. It acts as an allosteric modulator, binding to an allosteric site on mGluR4, and is used primarily as a diagnostic tool in research settings. The compound has been evaluated for its ability to quantify mGluR4 occupancy and distribution in preclinical models and early clinical studies, particularly related to Parkinson's disease. The radiolabeled form ([11C]PXT012253) enables non-invasive imaging of mGluR4 expression using PET scans[2][4][5][6]. Prexton Therapeutics developed this ligand as part of their efforts to advance mGluR4-targeted therapies and diagnostics[6][7].
