Overview

PXVX0047 is a live-attenuated vaccine candidate designed to prevent Chikungunya virus (CHIKV) infection. Originally developed by PaxVax (which was subsequently acquired by Emergent BioSolutions), the vaccine utilizes a weakened version of the virus to elicit a robust immune response, including the production of neutralizing antibodies and the activation of T-cell mediated immunity. Chikungunya is a mosquito-borne viral disease characterized by acute fever and severe, often debilitating, joint pain. PXVX0047 has been evaluated in Phase 2 clinical trials to assess its safety and immunogenicity in healthy adults, where it demonstrated the ability to induce high titers of neutralizing antibodies.
