Drug intelligence / Profile preview
PyloMuc is a preclinical-stage mucoadhesive polymeric formulation developed by Reig Jofre Group for the treatment of gastric ulcers associated with *Helicobacter pylori* infection. The technology is designed to enhance the localization and retention of therapeutic agents within the gastric mucosa, thereby improving the efficacy of eradication therapy and potentially reducing systemic side effects. By adhering to the gastric mucus layer, the formulation ensures a sustained local concentration of the active ingredient at the primary site of infection. This approach aims to overcome the challenges of rapid gastric emptying and the protective mucus barrier that often limit the effectiveness of standard oral antibiotics against *H. pylori*.
