Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Pylopac is a triple therapy combination product consisting of clarithromycin, lansoprazole, and amoxicillin, specifically indicated for the eradication of Helicobacter pylori infection. Clarithromycin is a macrolide antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit. Amoxicillin is a beta-lactam antibiotic that interferes with bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins. Lansoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that suppresses gastric acid secretion by inhibiting the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme system in gastric parietal cells. The reduction in gastric acidity by lansoprazole enhances the stability and antimicrobial activity of the antibiotics against H. pylori. This specific regimen, studied by Asofarma de México and marketed as Pylopac, typically involves twice-daily administration of the three components over a 10-day period.
