Overview

PYN17 is a botanical drug candidate developed by Phynova for the treatment of symptoms associated with chronic hepatitis C. As a botanical compound, it represents a complex mixture of plant-derived active ingredients and was positioned as the lead candidate in Phynova's portfolio of botanical drug candidates. In November 2007, preliminary results from a Phase I/II clinical trial confirmed that the drug met its primary endpoints for safety and tolerability. Following these results, Phynova secured a patent for PYN17 in the UK and began preparations for further clinical development in the United States. The drug was designed to address the symptomatic burden of hepatitis C through botanical pathways, though its specific molecular targets have not been widely disclosed.
