Overview
Pyragrel sodium is a novel small molecule antiplatelet agent developed by Hefei Yigong Pharmaceutical for the treatment of acute ischemic stroke. It functions as a dual-acting agent, inhibiting thromboxane A2 (TXA2) synthase and antagonizing the TXA2 receptor. By reducing TXA2 production and blocking its binding to receptors on the platelet surface, pyragrel sodium effectively inhibits platelet aggregation and prevents thrombus formation. It is currently being evaluated in Phase 3 clinical trials in China to improve neurological outcomes in patients following an ischemic stroke.
