Pyrigesic A

Pyrigesic A is a fixed-dose combination tablet containing aceclofenac (100 mg) and paracetamol (325 mg), developed and marketed by East India Pharmaceutical Works. It is an oral analgesic and anti-inflammatory medication used for the short-term relief of moderate-to-severe pain and inflammation associated with musculoskeletal and joint disorders, such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis. Aceclofenac is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that preferentially inhibits cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), thereby blocking prostaglandin synthesis to reduce pain and swelling. Paracetamol acts primarily in the central nervous system as an analgesic and antipyretic, raising the pain threshold and regulating the hypothalamic heat-regulating center to alleviate fever. Together, this combination provides synergistic pain relief and anti-inflammatory action.
