Overview

Pyrilutamide (developmental code name KX-826) is a topical nonsteroidal antiandrogen (NSAA) under development for the treatment of androgenetic alopecia (pattern hair loss) and acne. It acts as a selective, high-affinity silent antagonist of the androgen receptor, blocking dihydrotestosterone (DHT) from binding to its receptor in hair follicles. This local blockade limits androgen-mediated miniaturization of hair follicles and promotes terminal hair growth. Pyrilutamide is rapidly metabolized upon entering systemic circulation, minimizing systemic side effects commonly seen with oral antiandrogens. The drug is being developed by Suzhou Kintor Pharmaceuticals, a subsidiary of Kintor Pharmaceutical Limited[1][2][5][7].
