Overview

Pyrimidine-4,6-dicarboxylic acid bis-(4-fluoro-3-methyl-benzylamide) is a synthetic small molecule belonging to the class of pyrimidines. It is primarily known as an experimental inhibitor of matrix metalloproteinase 13 (MMP-13), an enzyme involved in the breakdown of extracellular matrix components such as collagen. MMP inhibitors have been investigated for their potential therapeutic applications in diseases involving tissue remodeling and degradation such as osteoarthritis and certain cancers. This compound has not been approved for clinical use and is mainly used in research settings to study MMP biology[1][2][8].
