Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Squa-med is a topical medicated shampoo developed by Permamed for the treatment of various scalp conditions, including seborrheic dermatitis, dandruff, scalp psoriasis, and pityriasis versicolor. It is formulated as a combination of two active ingredients: pyrithione zinc, which acts as a fungistatic and bacteriostatic agent to inhibit microbial growth and normalize skin cell turnover, and disodium undecylenamido MEA-sulfosuccinate, an anionic surfactant that prevents excessive greasing of the hair and provides mild antimycotic and antiseborrheic effects. Together, these components work synergistically to reduce scaling, soothe itching, and restore the natural balance of the scalp.
