Overview
**Pyron** is an Izotop sterile lyophilized cold kit containing sodium pyrophosphate for in-situ preparation of technetium-99m pyrophosphate injection with sodium pertechnetate Tc-99m. The resulting diagnostic SPECT radiopharmaceutical localizes at sites of altered mineralization and is used for bone scintigraphy, imaging of acute myocardial infarction, blood-pool scintigraphy, and spleen scintigraphy. The non-radioactive Pyron kit can also be used to pretreat red blood cells before subsequent Tc-99m-pertechnetate administration for in-vivo red-blood-cell labeling.
