pyroquilon

Pyroquilon is a synthetic small molecule fungicide belonging to the pyrroloquinoline class. It is primarily used as an agricultural chemical to control rice blast disease caused by the fungus Magnaporthe oryzae. Pyroquilon acts as a melanin synthesis inhibitor in fungi by binding to the naphthol pocket of fungal trihydroxynaphthalene reductase (THR), thereby disrupting melanin biosynthesis essential for fungal pathogenicity and survival. It is not approved for use within the European Union but has been marketed under various trade names in other regions. The compound has also been studied as a laboratory reagent and research tool for investigating fungal biology[2][9][10].
