Drug intelligence / Profile preview
PZ-2645 is a novel, enantiomerically pure arylurea derivative of aryloxy(1-phenylpropyl) alicyclic diamine, representing the S-enantiomer of the racemic mixture PZ-1985. Developed by researchers at the Jagiellonian University Medical College in collaboration with the Helmholtz Institute for Pharmaceutical Research Saarland (HIPS), PZ-2645 is being investigated as a preclinical candidate for the treatment of resistant *Staphylococcus aureus* infections, including methicillin-resistant *Staphylococcus aureus* (MRSA). The compound exhibits potent antibacterial activity, improved metabolic stability, and low cytotoxicity against mammalian cells. Its mechanism of action involves bacterial membrane depolarization, leading to rapid bactericidal effects.
