Overview

Q-004 is a small molecule, allosteric inhibitor of caspase-1 (interleukin-1 beta-converting enzyme) being developed by the Queensland Emory Drug Discovery Initiative (QEDDI), a division of UniQuest (the commercialization company of the University of Queensland), in partnership with Emory University. Caspase-1 is an inflammatory protease that plays a critical role in the innate immune response by cleaving the inactive precursors of pro-inflammatory cytokines, such as interleukin-1β (IL-1β) and interleukin-18 (IL-18), into their active mature forms, as well as initiating pyroptosis. Q-004 is currently in the lead optimization phase of development for the treatment of various inflammatory disorders.
