Q-Cells is a cellular therapeutic candidate consisting of healthy human glial restricted progenitor cells (hGRPs), developed by Q Therapeutics. These progenitor cells are designed to differentiate into astrocytes and oligodendrocytes upon transplantation into the central nervous system, where they provide neurotrophic support to neurons and promote the restoration of myelin. The therapy is primarily targeted at neurodegenerative and demyelinating conditions, including Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and Transverse Myelitis (TM). Q-Cells are isolated using a proprietary process involving an IgM monoclonal antibody and are delivered via direct injection into the spinal cord. Preclinical studies have also explored its potential in spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis, and stroke.
