The Q Fever LPS Conjugate Vaccine is a preclinical vaccine candidate being developed by Hilleman Laboratories for the prevention of Q Fever, a zoonotic infection caused by the bacterium *Coxiella burnetii*. The vaccine utilizes a conjugate platform where the lipopolysaccharide (LPS) of *C. burnetii* is chemically linked to a carrier protein. This design aims to overcome the limitations of traditional whole-cell vaccines, which can cause severe hypersensitivity reactions in individuals previously exposed to the pathogen. By conjugating the LPS antigen, the vaccine is intended to convert the T-cell independent carbohydrate antigen into a T-cell dependent one, thereby inducing a more robust and long-lasting immune response with an improved safety profile.
