Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Q001 is a topical small molecule galectin-3 inhibitor being developed for the treatment of atopic dermatitis (AD). Licensed by Quodria from Galytx, the drug utilizes a specialized nano formulation to deliver the therapeutic agent directly to the skin. Galectin-3 is a protein found to be elevated in the skin of AD patients, where it contributes to inflammation and skin barrier dysfunction. By inhibiting galectin-3, Q001 aims to reduce localized inflammation and support the recovery of the skin barrier. It is designed to be used as a first-in-class treatment, either alone or in combination with existing AD therapies, to manage flares and improve patient outcomes.
