Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Q002 is a topical formulation of tacrolimus being developed by Quodria for the treatment of atopic dermatitis. It utilizes a proprietary "base formulation" designed as a light, moisturising cream with high aesthetic quality to improve the patient experience compared to existing topical calcineurin inhibitors (TCIs). Tacrolimus is a small molecule immunosuppressant that inhibits calcineurin, a calcium-dependent phosphatase, thereby preventing the dephosphorylation of the nuclear factor of activated T-cells (NFAT) and subsequent production of inflammatory cytokines. Q002 aims to provide a "best-in-class" alternative to current tacrolimus treatments by addressing suboptimal drug delivery and reducing application-site reactions, such as the burning sensations commonly reported by patients using existing TCI products.
